How to use it
- Choose give, summon or tellraw.
- Fill in the fields: the target, the item or mob, and the options you want.
- Read the command for Java and for Bedrock. Notes tell you what Bedrock cannot do.
- Copy it and paste it into the chat or a command block with cheats on.
How the commands are built
A command is a name followed by arguments. /give takes a target, an item and an amount. In Java 1.20.5 and newer the item can carry data components in square brackets, such as enchantments or custom_name. /summon takes an entity, a position and optionally an NBT compound in curly brackets for options such as NoAI:true. /tellraw takes a target and a text component.
The generator checks the values before it writes the command. The item id must be lowercase with underscores, the position needs three values, and the enchantment level must be a whole number from 1 to 255.
Worked example: a named, enchanted sword
Choose give, target @s, item diamond_sword, name Dawn, enchantment sharpness at level 5. The Java result is /give @s diamond_sword[enchantments={"minecraft:sharpness":5},custom_name={"italic":false,"text":"Dawn"}] 1. The italic:false part removes the italics that renamed items usually get. Bedrock cannot do this with /give, so the tool says so and gives only the plain sword.
Worked example: a statue mob
Choose summon, entity villager, name Guide, and tick No AI, Silent, Invulnerable and Never despawns. The Java command is /summon villager ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"Guide",NoAI:true,Silent:true,Invulnerable:true,PersistenceRequired:true}. The villager stands still, makes no sounds and cannot be hurt.
Selectors
| Selector | Who it picks |
|---|---|
@s | The one running the command |
@a | All players |
@p | The nearest player |
@r | A random player |
@e | All entities (use with filters) |
Java and Bedrock differences
- give. Java takes components in brackets. Bedrock takes an amount and a data value and only a few components.
- summon. Java takes an NBT compound. Bedrock takes a name and a position.
- tellraw. Java uses text components. Bedrock uses a rawtext array with § codes.
Common mistakes
- Cheats off. Commands do nothing without them.
- Old version syntax. Copy commands from a source that matches your version.
- A space in the item id. Use underscores, like netherite_pickaxe.
- Too many items. The game refuses amounts over 100 stacks.

Frequently asked questions
What is the give command in Minecraft?
It is /give
How do I give an enchanted item?
In Java 1.21.5 and newer use the enchantments component: /give @s diamond_sword[enchantments={"minecraft:sharpness":5}] 1. Bedrock cannot add enchantments with /give.
How do I summon a mob with a custom name?
In Java write /summon zombie ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"Bob"}. In Bedrock write /summon zombie "Bob" ~ ~ ~.
What do @s, @a, @p and @r mean?
@s is the one who runs the command, @a is all players, @p is the nearest player and @r is a random player.
What do the ~ signs mean?
A tilde means a position relative to where the command runs. ~ ~ ~ is the exact spot, and ~ ~1 ~ is one block above.
Why does the command not work in my version?
This generator writes commands for Java 1.21.5 and newer. Before 1.20.5 items used NBT tags, which are not the same. Bedrock has its own, shorter syntax.
Do I need cheats on?
Yes. In a world, turn on cheats or open to LAN with cheats. On a server you need to be an operator.
How many items can I give at once?
In Java up to 100 stacks of the item. In Bedrock the amount should be between 1 and 32767. The tool limits the amount to a safe 6400.
