Minecraft Circle Chart: Every Circle from 3 to 40 Blocks

Every circle from 3 to 40 blocks wide on one page, with the block count under each one, ready to print.

Runs entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.

How to use it

  1. Find the width you want in the chart. The number above each circle is the diameter in blocks.
  2. Pick Thin, Thick or Filled. The drawings and counts change at once.
  3. Open a circle in the generator for a row by row guide and a PNG, or press Print chart.
  4. Build one quarter, check it against the drawing, then mirror it for the other three.

How to read the circle chart

Every drawing is one circle seen from above. One square is one block. The number on top is the diameter, the full width of the circle in blocks, and the number below is how many blocks the circle needs in the style you picked. Click any circle to open it in the circle generator, which lists every row as "skip so many, place so many".

All 38 circles use the same rule. A block is placed when the centre of its square lies inside a perfect circle of that width. The thin outline keeps only the blocks that touch the outside along a side. The thick outline keeps every block that touches the outside, corners included, so it has no diagonal gaps. The filled disc keeps everything.

Block counts for every size

This table repeats the counts from the chart with all three styles side by side, so you can compare before you mine. Stacks are counted at 64 blocks.

Two patterns stand out. The thick outline is always 4 blocks less than four times the diameter: 76 for a 20 block circle, 156 for a 40 block circle. The thin outline is close to 2.8 times the diameter. The filled disc grows with the square of the size, which is why a 40 block floor needs four times the blocks of a 20 block floor.

Bigger circles

Past 40 blocks a picture is hard to count by eye, so use the generator and follow the rows. For planning, these are the totals for a few large sizes people often build: arenas, castle towers and map-sized rings.

Which size to pick

Odd sizes have one block in the middle. That is what you want for a tower around a single column, a beacon, or a spiral staircase with a centre post. Even sizes have a two by two middle, which suits a double door or a 2 by 2 tree trunk in the centre.

Small circles, up to about 7 blocks, look more like rounded squares. That is not a mistake in the chart, there are simply too few blocks to show a curve. Between 9 and 15 blocks the shape starts to read as round, which is why so many towers use 11, 13 or 15. For a large dome or arena, anything from 25 up looks smooth from a distance.

A 16 block circle fits exactly inside one chunk. A 32 block circle spans exactly two. That helps when you want a build to line up with chunk borders, for example to keep a farm loaded.

Building from the chart

  1. Choose the centre and mark the four outer points: top, bottom, left and right. For a 15 block circle they are 7 blocks from the centre block.
  2. Build the top left quarter by copying the drawing row by row.
  3. Mirror that quarter to the right, then mirror the whole top half down.
  4. Walk around the finished ring and compare each side with the chart. A single wrong step is easy to see when the four quarters do not match.

For a wall, stack the same outline layer on layer. Ten layers of a thin 20 block circle is 560 blocks, 8 stacks and 48. To turn a total into chests and shulker boxes, use the stack calculator. For round shapes in three dimensions, the sphere, dome and cylinder generators draw every layer.

Chart or generator?

A chart is fastest when you already know the width and want to see the shape. The generator is better for odd jobs: ovals, circles over 40 blocks, a row list you can tick off, or a PNG of one circle at a large size. Both use the same maths, so a 23 block circle in the chart is the same as a 23 block circle in the generator. The pixel circle generator does the same for pixel art and cross-stitch, without the game terms.

Sources and notes

The circles and counts on this page are computed by the BlockShapes engine when the page is built, not copied from another chart. The stack size of 64 follows the Minecraft Wiki, checked on 27 October 2026. BlockShapes is not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Minecraft circle chart?

It is a sheet that shows how to build circles of different sizes out of square blocks. Each circle is drawn on a grid, so you can count the blocks in every row and copy them into the game.

How many blocks is a 20 block circle in Minecraft?

A 20 block circle needs 56 blocks as a thin outline, 76 as a thick outline with no diagonal gaps, and 316 as a filled disc. That is under one stack for the outline and 4 stacks and 60 blocks for the disc.

Should I use an odd or an even diameter?

Use an odd diameter when you need a single centre block, for a beacon, a pillar or a door in the exact middle. Even diameters have a two by two centre and slightly wider flat sides. Both are equally round.

Why do some circles in the chart look more square?

Small circles have long flat runs compared with their size, so they look boxy. From about 9 blocks up the curve looks smooth, which is why sizes such as 11, 13 and 15 are common for towers.

Does the chart work for Minecraft Bedrock?

Yes. Blocks are the same squares in Java and Bedrock, so every circle in the chart builds the same way in both editions.

What if I need a circle bigger than 40 blocks?

Use the circle generator. It draws any circle or oval up to 400 blocks wide and gives a row by row guide, so you do not have to count from a picture.

Can I print the Minecraft circle chart?

Yes. Press Print chart and the page prints only the circles and the table, in black on white. Pick the line style first, the print uses whatever is selected.
